Structural Mezzanine Floor
Structural mezzanine floors are free-standing steel platforms designed to support heavy loads including equipment, offices, and production areas. Built to local building codes, these systems effectively double your usable floor area without building expansion.
- Free-standing structure
- Heavy load support
- Code compliant
- Doubles floor space

Overview
A structural mezzanine floor is a free-standing steel platform that creates an entirely new floor level within your existing building, effectively doubling your usable floor area without the cost and disruption of building expansion. Unlike rack-supported mezzanines that integrate with racking, structural mezzanines are independent structures with their own column grid, designed to support heavy loads including offices, production equipment, machinery, and high-density storage.
Structural mezzanines are engineered as permanent building elements, designed and constructed in accordance with international building codes and local UAE regulations. They can span large open areas without intermediate columns (up to 12 meters between supports), creating flexible, unobstructed floor space on both levels.
In the UAE's rapidly evolving commercial landscape, structural mezzanines provide a cost-effective alternative to building expansion or relocation. Whether you need additional warehouse space, office area, production floor, or a combination of functions, a structural mezzanine can be designed, manufactured, and installed in a fraction of the time and cost of conventional construction.
System Operation & Mechanics
A structural mezzanine consists of primary and secondary steel beams supported on steel columns, with floor decking spanning between the secondary beams. The columns are anchored to the existing building floor slab using heavy-duty chemical anchor bolts or cast-in-place foundation pads.
Primary beams (typically I-beams or H-beams) span the longest distances between columns, carrying the highest loads. Secondary beams run perpendicular to the primaries at closer spacing, supporting the floor decking. The beam sizes, spacings, and connection details are all determined by structural calculations specific to your load requirements and span distances.
Floor decking options include profiled steel deck with concrete topping (for heavy loads and fire resistance), steel grating (for ventilation and sprinkler compliance), and composite panels (for a balance of performance and cost). Staircases, goods lifts, guardrails, and building services are integrated into the design as required.
The entire structure is designed for disassembly and potential relocation, although most structural mezzanines are treated as permanent building additions. All welded connections are prepared in our fabrication workshop, and the structure is assembled on-site using high-strength bolted connections.

Advantages

Doubles Floor Space
Create an entirely new floor level within your existing building, doubling usable area without building expansion or relocation.
Heavy Load Support
Designed to support offices, machinery, production equipment, and high-density storage—not just light shelving.
Large Clear Spans
Column-free spans of up to 12 meters provide unobstructed floor space on both levels for maximum layout flexibility.
Building Code Compliant
Engineered to international standards (Eurocode 3, AISC) and local UAE building codes, with full structural certification.
Multi-Function Platform
Use for offices, storage, production, quality control, or any combination—the platform supports virtually any application.
Fast Construction
Prefabricated steel components enable installation in 2-4 weeks, compared to months for conventional building extensions.

Office & Administrative Mezzanines
One of the most popular applications for structural mezzanines in the UAE is creating elevated office space within warehouse environments. A mezzanine-mounted office provides supervisors with a commanding view of warehouse operations while creating a comfortable, climate-controlled working environment. Our office mezzanines include full partitioning, ceiling systems, HVAC ducting, electrical distribution, data cabling, and fire detection systems—delivered as a complete, ready-to-occupy workspace.
Fire Safety Engineering
Fire safety is a critical consideration for any mezzanine installation. Our structural engineers work with fire safety consultants to ensure every mezzanine meets the requirements of the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice. Key considerations include fire-rated floor constructions (30, 60, or 120 minutes depending on building type), sprinkler system design for both under and above the mezzanine, smoke detection and alarm systems, emergency evacuation routes and staircase capacity, and fire compartmentation between the mezzanine and the rest of the building.
Project Delivery Process
Our end-to-end project delivery process covers every aspect from initial consultation to final handover. Phase 1: Site survey and requirement analysis. Phase 2: Concept design and budget estimate. Phase 3: Detailed structural design and permit submissions. Phase 4: Fabrication in our facility (3-4 weeks). Phase 5: On-site installation (2-3 weeks). Phase 6: Finishing, testing, and handover. Throughout the process, a dedicated project manager keeps you informed and coordinates all activities to minimize disruption to your ongoing operations.
